Irene Swankie,
Irene has been with National Australia Bank Group since 1979.
Prior to her current appointment Irene enjoyed a variety of roles within the Group such as Branch Manager as well as several support function roles including Business Excellence Mentor and Community & Customer Liaison Manager.
Preceding her current appointment as Community Affairs & CSR Manager in February 2006 Irene was Community Affairs Manager responsible for managing the corporate community investment programme across Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank. This role included managing corporate charitable donations, community partnerships, the Banks’ Charity Partner and also employee engagement/ volunteering. The programme under Irene’s ownership received external recognition and continues to do so with several partnerships within the programme winning prestigious national awards.
In 2006 Irene expanded her responsibilities to include broader CSR reporting with the aim of ensuring that the UK operations build upon the excellent work of its community programme.
Irene holds an Arts degree from Edinburgh University and is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland. She is also a Director of Volunteer Development Scotland and sits on the Advisory Group for the Scottish Centre of Financial Education.
